Frische Clavier-Früchte (Kuhnau, Johann)  7 Sonatas for the Keyboard, 1696

Fresh Fruits of the Keyboard, Ink, Pastel 26″ x 40″  is a special piece painted to live Harpsichord Music in my studio over an extended period of 8 months. I’m gifted with the friendship of a special, emerging, Harpsichord Musician, Sebastian Bottone, a recent graduate of Hartt School of Music. My large studio with temperature controls is the temporary home to an audio sculpture he calls a SYMBOL, the Harpsichord.

Sebe began warming up one day last year with these 1696 Kuhnau compositions, and the paint began to flow from my heart, my spirit, and my hands. As he took on each one of the seven sonatas, I joined in the flow with hours, days, months, and layers of paint. He’s a brilliant player, and his emotions fill the room like his music. We hope to have an event shortly where he plays alongside this piece. Take a listen to Sebe’s compositions on his YouTube channel. Most of them are recorded in my studio, How Dang Lucky am I?
