2026 Encaustic Color Intensive 5-Day Workshop

In this 5 day immersive workshop in the charming farm-coastal community of Tiverton and Little Compton, Rhode Island, Kelly Milukas and Dietlind Vander Schaaf will take you on a deep dive into color. Appropriate for both representational and abstract artists, this color intensive workshop will focus on learning to see value and light, understand co-primary color bias palettes, working with transparent and opaque paints, color mixing to achieve saturated, muted, chromatic greys, and color relationships. Primer exercises will include improving your paintings by tackling issues related to using color in composition. Participants will learn to see light as shape and color that informs composition. Continental breakfast, gourmet lunches, and a group studio supper are included. Elective Open Studio hours will be held each evening.

Students must have a basic understanding of encaustic painting, including application and experience fusing with a torch.
